Thanks to the unions and governors and legislators who are afraid to defy them, the board makeup expanded to allow cops with no supervisory experience to sit on the board,.Some rookie with a couple of years on the job were now allowed to render opinions on disciplinary issues with their opinion carrying the same weight as a Chief with 30 years on the job. There's the reason why AZPOST has gone in the toilet. We don't allow line cops to make disciplinary decisions they are not qualified, same reason we don't make rookies chiefs of police.2 days ago
Bill , the Lovelace incident was an embarrassment to AZPOST and proved what I've suspected for years, they have no stomach to make tough decisions, in Lovelace they figured(wrongly) the court would find him guilty and make their decision for them. Then oops, he was acquitted and they then had to make the decision they postponed for a year, they then took the chicken way out, bent over for the unions and let him keep his certification.
You recall the tough aboard of the 90s? You lied you died. New board members came on board and they started waffling on integrity issues, look at how many liars are suspended rather than revoked. I do not trust the future of az law enforcement to the current board, the integrity of the profession is not in good hands. (From a 32 year veteran).3 days ago
By the way, what makes u think azpost staff is in any way qualified to tell a chief how to run a dept.? I know the staff at post, some have had command experience, others are flunkies who never rose very high within their ranks. The board has some experienced people and others who would have a hard time tying their shoelaces.3 days ago
Durham, do u have a AZPOST agenda?, do u work for them. Any Chief of police can explain to u why the role of AZPOST is clearly established by law, and it is not to usurp local control. Once they are allowed to exert internal control of police departments you have the state in your back pocket and will never get rid of them. I don't want jan brewer running my pd!3 days ago
The AZPOST responsibilities are mandated by law. Do you also want them telling agencies how and who to promote to SROs, k9, and SWAT?. Those are agency responsibilities. Be careful what you wish for, once you let post get inside your agency and start dictating how to run it, you'll never get them out.1 week ago
Pcso101, me thinks I'd rather take my chances around ASU, Than have a pcso deputy run into me while driving recklessly at 100 mph, then have the "law and order" team refuse to prosecute. Voyles and Babeau are going to cover for each other, Paul got Lando in office and is payback time. Bill u keep your eye on Pinal county there are more shenanigans to come.3 weeks ago
This is humorous. Lousy judges and their inability to control the clowns acting as attorneys is the reason people do not want to serve on juries. Look at the nonsense arias' lawyers are allowed to get away with . Her trial should have lasted a week. IF the judge took control of the courtroom. I have no intention of ever reporting to jury duty. Thank you. If I'm ever called all I have to say is show me the guilty Sonofab&@$/-@#% I can be impartial, you are excused!

Wonder how many staff meetings it took the brainiacs at adot to come up with this blinding flash of the obvious. Our tax dollars at work.2 months ago

Another rarity, Bill. Second time you write something I agree with. Been a cop for almost 30 years and we always destroyed firearms involved in crimes for obvious reasons. Or at least obvious to rational people. Once the gun 2nd Amend. and Obama hating nuts get involved, like our quick draw (pun intended) Legislature, reason goes out the window and emotions take over. No firearms used in crimes should ever be placed back out on the streets. Plain common sense; common sense is not very common, though.4 months ago
