I'm happy to see the legislature isn't wasting time on silly and unconstitutional bills anymore.

The idiocy of those statements defies any kind of reasonable discourse.5 months ago
Too bad Ms. Brown didn't avail herself of the Thanksgiving sales to purchase new foil. The hat she's currently wearing isn't working too well.6 months ago
You're absolutely correct, Sandy. There were too many errors just within my own family for me to think there incidents were minimal or isolated. From being not on the voting roll in spite of not changing address since the last election, to having to vote as a mail-in voter, even though 1) she never signed up for early voting and 2) she never received an early ballot either.
BTW, this out of two out of seven voters. Those are not good odds or ones designed to make me feel very confident in election results in Arizona.6 months ago
Trickle down, or Supply Side economics, does not work. It didn't work in the late 1800s, it didn't work in the 1920s, and it hasn't worked this time around.
Neither does austerity, as Europe has proved since the global recession hit. In 1937, FDR, thinking the depression had been beat and the economy recovered, cut back on government spending and a recession promptly hit. The amount of government debt piled up during the depression years took us until the 1980s to pay off. Did anyone honestly think the great recession could be fixed immediately and without cost? That's a nice dream, but it's not reality.
Likewise cutting taxes alone does not work, and it takes raising revenue as well. This is especially true when dealing with a global economy. Business is currently sitting on literally trillions, which they are not investing here in the US. Uncertainity? Oh yes, but it's uncertainity of demand, not regulation or higher taxes. If there's no demand, why would any business hire more employees?
The tax code needs a lot of reworking, but good luck getting that through a congress that is fixated on blocking anything that might actually do some good for main street and the 99%. No president, no matter who he/she might be, can legislate. That has to come through congress, and we've just had the worse congress in history, with a House determined to vote (33 times) to repeal ObamaCare, knowing it would never pass, and legislating social issues such as abortion and contraception. The Senate, meanwhile, logged in a historic record number of filibusters.
This is a link to a CRS report showing that tax cuts will not fix the economy, they will only further the income inequity issue we have.(If you're not familiar with the Congressional Research Service, Google it for more information.)

And when will Arpaio go after rapists and pedophiles?7 months ago
A fair, legal election without intimidation. True the Vote has vowed to have poll watchers at every poll in the country on election day. Their stated intent is to challenge and intimidate every voter they suspect might be voting the 'wrong' way.
I'm happy this post is being created, so I'll know where to report anyone snapping my picture or challenging in anyway my right to vote. Most cell phones these days have the ability to take pictures and/or record videos. Taking photos of people can go both ways.7 months ago
Suggest you go to Factcheck.org and/or Politifact.com. Romney, as usual, lied throughout the entire debate. I would like to have seen Obama call him out on it, but being confrontational and calling his opponent a liar, isn't really Obama's style.
Hopefully, he'll develop some pushback by the next debate. It really isn't a good thing for anyone to allow those kinds of untruths to go unchallenged.
As for a game changer, I don't think so. There are very few undecided people left out there.7 months ago
Arizona is a right to work state, has been for years. No one in Arizona can be compelled to join a union to hold a job. This entire opinion piece is an attempt at distraction and a "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" tactic. 8 months ago
And follow Europe's austerity lead right into double dip recession. Asterity is not the answer.8 months ago
