Mike, I'm sorry you misunderstood my point. I am not talking about "makers and takers" - I'm talking about values. Traditional values and beliefs can be embraced by people at all economic levels. My values have not changed since I was a young military wife in the 60's & 70's to now that I'm retired. It has nothing to do with the amount of money you earn.6 months ago
There are many reasons why the Republicans lost the election, not the least of which is the fact that people with traditional American values are out-numbered now. I am 65 years old and never thought I would see the day when belief in personal/fiscal responsibility, hard work, traditional marriage, and the sanctity of ife would be mocked and ridiculed. No matter - I am prepared to be called hateful and bigoted (those terms are thrown around so frequently now that they hold little meaning any more) for believing in what America used to stand for. People like Jon think they are "enlightened" to be going into this "brave new world". They don't realize that many civilizations before ours have gone this route - to their destruction. There is nothing new under the sun, Jon - just a different time in which it is tried.6 months ago
Moore's second sentence says, "Hate lost on Election Day." Then he proceeds to spew a hateful rant against everyone who does not believe in his socialist agenda - what a despicable person!6 months ago
Samkat - it's amazing the assumptions that are made about people who post here. I attend a church in the East Valley, but it sure is not the LDS church. How in the world do you think you know about my personal life? Incredible........and Rich, I think you are probably right - any kind of smaller government at this point in our history is probably wishful thinking.........

Cerulean, you can keep denying it, but Romney knocked it out of the park last night! Obama didn't even show up and was absolutely nothing without his teleprompter. I'm sure he'll improve in the next debate, but honestly, he has nothing to run on and that showed last night. The Ryan-Biden debate should be even more interesting.7 months ago
Americans have a real choice as to what direction they want their country to go - smaller government and personal responsibility with greater freedom or more dependence on a larger, more controlling government. Consider this quote from Alexis De Tocqueville - "The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." I'm afraid that day has arrived.........7 months ago
DrJCA1 - thank you for your commonsense post! As I said previously, we need to stop dragging Reagan, Carter, Bush, etc. into this and figure out how to stop the bleeding now before it's too late. Apparently, most folks would rather just argue.May 8, 2012
Mike, why do you keep going back to Reagan? That ship has sailed. We need to figure out how to stop the bleeding now, because under Obama, we're soon going to bleed out!May 8, 2012
Mike, you keep going after Reagan for "tripling the national debt", yet you ignore the fact that Obama has raised the national debt higher in three years than Bush did in eight. Since you are obviously an Obama supporter, tell me why that's a good thing?May 7, 2012
Mike - see what happened in Greece and France today? It's coming our way very soon if Obama is re-elected. Those countries are learning the hard way that eventually you run out of other people's money to pay for everything - it's going to happen here very soon if something doesn't change.May 6, 2012
