This is the most absurd, baseless and stunningly paranoid rant I've seen ever published in a metro newspaper. This woman is simply crazy.6 months ago
The country's biggest problem is the election of Neanderthals like Russell Pearce. The world has passed him and his supporters a long time ago and it's time he takes his two or three government pensions and joins the other whiners living in the past on the sidelines where gripping and nick-picking and telling lies can be heard but ignored.9 months ago

First of all, Jefferson never uttered these words. The problem with platforms like this is it gives people a way to misquote or rewrite history to their liking, ignoring the importance of history and context and then have people believe them--which is the point.
Doug defeats his own argument by failing to recognize that keeping assault rifles that can kill or wound hundreds of people off the market does not impact the right to "wear arms" as Jefferson sees it. Rather, it means that those movie goers who might be armed would have a better chance of stopping someone with a .22 rifle than an AR-15 with 100-round magazine a handgun with an 30-shot magazine. He presumes anyone being armed creates a level playing field when in reality it does not. The better analogy in this situation of an under-powered public is that of bringing a knife to a gun fight.
A single shot handgun versus an automatic weapon in a crowded theater makes the handgun owner and everyone around them the target if they miss--which research shows they probably will. That creates an even more risky and deadly set of circumstances. If I had to bet on an AR-15 versus a handgun, I'd bet on the AR-15 every time.10 months ago
The above commentary criticizing public pensions is from someone who doesn't need one. He has his own and he doesn't want YOU to have one if you served the public for your entire career. He wants you to have one even LESS if you were a member of a police or fire union. 11 months ago
Tony, get a grip. They aren't citizens. They can't even register to vote, so no, they won't be able to impact November's or any other election because they aren't getting citizenship. This isn't permanent, as the waivers are good only for two years before they have to reapply.
As non-citizens, they're not eligible for any federal aid program, just like every other non-citizen who isn't getting unemployment benefits, welfare or other aid program benefit.
What Obama did follows long-established precedent and existing policy. He's well within his powers to do what he did. If you want to blame someone, blame Congress. 11 months ago
Gee, with all of the rhetoric about Obama being responsible for increasing gas prices, you have to wonder where the compliments are now that gas prices are going down?Apr 12, 2012
As Comedy Central's Jon Stewart says, "Arizona is the meth lab of Democracy." Seel is plainly not the sharpest tool in the shed and let's hope some more intelligent Republican runs against him in the fall. Even the National Review says this investigation by Arpaio is crazy and anyone who supports it is unworthy of political support. Put Seel right up there with Arpaio.Mar 27, 2012
Worsley wins in a double-digit walk in the Primary.
Yes, the PRIMARY.
Most of the people at the Red Mountain Tea Party meeting don't live in the district. Just like the recall election, Russell has no support IN his district. Ninety percent of Pearce's support comes from meddling outsiders.Mar 21, 2012
"Pearce said he welcomes Worsley into the race. However, Pearce said he got 77 percent of the GOP vote in the recall."
Nonsense. I guess he pulled that number out of his southern end just like so much of anything else he says.
Russell: let me explain this to you. You were beat in 13 of 16 polling places. The ONLY precincts you won were in your immediate neighborhood. You got crushed in many central and southeastern polling places with high Republican turnout by nearly two-to-one, and those precincts are in the new LD26.
Here are other reasons why you lost and will lose again:
You LIED about the church support of SB1070.
You LIED about church support of your immigration "strategy."
You LIED about your family's and campaign's involvement in the Olivia Cortes campaign.
You LIED about balancing the budget without gimmicks.
You LIED about not raising taxes.
You LIED about Jerry Lewis.
And now you're lying about getting 77 percent of the Republican vote when you know there is zero proof for the claim. You just can't bring yourself to tell the truth about anything, can you?
People in Mesa are tired of lying politicians Russell. They really are. I think you need to be considering Career Plan B, because Plan A isn't going to work.
That, or you can sit at home an collect your government pension checks.Mar 21, 2012
