One of the reasons behind the jump in prices has been the influx of cash buyers from out of state and foreigners. Just like before, they are inflating the value of homes more quickly than normal and overpaying to get properties. This will continue to drive prices up and, despite current low interest rates, create another bubble. Banks are contributing to the problem by holding back foreclosed properties in order to drive prices up. 5 months ago
More government regulations, higher taxes, including those in Obamacare, higher utility costs, higher gas prices... the list is getting worse for the middle class. As businesses get squeezed, they will make cuts- and that means lay offs, which we are already seeing and will see more of. The day after the election- nice timing there- Boeing announced lay-offs, as did several more large employers. Other companies including Papa Johns Pizza and Dardens restaurants are looking at reducing employee hours. People are deluding themselves if they think American businesses, small or large, are simply going to absorb the costs of Obamacare.
We are heading into a period of greater regulation and greater government interference- and businesses will not respond well. Make it more expensive to do business, and see lay-offs, cutbacks and offshoring as the result. Service industries will simply cut back to part-time workers. Let's see how consumer confidence stands up to this once the pink slips start arriving.7 months ago
We originally moved to Gilbert because of the schools, yet became dissatisfied with the curriculum. Too much time was spent on garbage lessons, diversity, multiculturalism and other propaganda teaching while teachers had frequent "in house training" days. We turned to homeschooling and found an excellent program offered through Mesa Public Schools which allowed homeschooled students to take classes at a satellite location to complement their home studies.
Our kids took classes in poetry, music, art, dance, computers, geography, advanced reading and many others. At home they were grounded in the basics.
Then they returned to school outside of the home, choosing charter schools.
Both my children attended charter schools with great results. Our son graduated with grades good enough to qualify for a full scholarship to ASU and our daughter, who had an IEP by the way, graduated near the top of her class as well. One is pursuing an IT degree with plans to obtain a Masters and teach at the college level while the other plans to teach Special Education.
Just like public schools, there are good charter schools and poor ones. Parents need to take the time to investigate to find the best option for their children, but at least we do have options in Arizona.7 months ago
Clearly the writer is not familiar with Christian teachings dealing with caring for the poor, sick and others among society. No teachings direct people to depend upon government entities to care for them- Christ directed Christians to care for those within their societies. The GOP is dealing with the fall out of years of Democratic big government intruding into our lives and developing into a nanny state to the extent that voters now expect the government to do nearly everything for them. ( Comments from the voter who expected BHO to put gas in her car and pay her mortgage were not isolated )
There are real decisions that must be made regarding Medicare, Social Security and other government programs- and they aren't going to be pretty. Dealing with them now so that our kids and grandkids have time to make plans for their futures is only reasonable. I give full marks to the GOP for trying to deal with the debt issue and zero to the scare tactic Dems who have passed truly scary legislation like Obamacare ( hey, make less money and you won't have to worry about it! ) while giving passes to their union buddies ( over 222 businesses and unions were recently granted waivers from this so called terrific legislation). But what do you expect from an empty suit President with no experience and 20 years of Reverend Wright as his "religious" counselor?

Americans are allowing a small minority of militants to completely remake the American family structure and to indoctrinate our children that homosexuality is not only within the range of normal behavior, but is actually "cool". Hollyweird and the main stream media are quick to applaud any actor/actress who comes out as gay/lesbian or bi and condemn anyone who dares stand up to the indoctrination.
No wonder homeschooling is becoming more and more popular as parents seek to remove their kids from the influences found in liberal education.
Gays et al. have all the "rights" that are found in the Constitution. Contrary to liberal thinking, there is no right to healthcare, there is no right to a job and there is no right to marriage. The battle is over VALUES and the gay federal judge who wrote the idiotic opinion had no justification for overruling the will of the voters. The Supreme Court will hopefully see through this and uphold the voters.Aug 13, 2010
I love the irony of the left calling Tea Party patriots racists when the left is flying Mexican flags and calling for completely open borders with the eventual takeover of this country by Hispanic and Latin American countries.
Americans had better stand up and be counted before we wake up one day living in Mexamerica. We're almost there as it is.Jul 30, 2010
To paraphrase Michelle Obama, never in my lifetime have I been as ashamed of my president as I am right now. This guy is an empty suit and his minions in Congress are too busy completely dismissing the will of the voters to pay any attention to the tax burdens that they are levying against us. The Dems will win in November? Beydler, people are SALIVATING to get to the polls and vote the Dems out. The Republicans aren't that great, but they beat the h*ll out of the alternative.Jul 30, 2010
