PHOENIX -- Arizona voters will soon decide whether dozens of school districts should join forces.
A state commission that convened more than a year ago to look at the possibility of combining some of Arizona’s 227 school districts is expected to begin voting today on which of those districts should be unified.

Voters in the Gilbert and Higley school districts decided big isn’t necessarily better and rejected a consolidation measure on Tuesday. But an area of the East Valley where combining school districts would make a lot more sense is Tempe and west Chandler.
During a ceremony Thursday night, the Chandler Unified School District dedicated one of its newest campuses: The Haley Knutson Elementary School, known as Haley Elementary School.
