Gilbert Mesquite celebrated its homecoming Friday night by treating Wildcats fans to a 55-0 romp over San Luis in a 5A nonregion game.
Outlook: Mesquite has won the games it was supposed to thus far (North and San Luis). Notching a win over a favored opponent is essential before the rigors of Fiesta Region play set in Oct. 6.
Gilbert High’s Brad Mason booted a 40-yard field goal with less than five seconds remaining in the game to give the Tigers a 15-14 victory over host Gilbert Mesquite in a 5A-I Fiesta Region game Friday night.
In a game featuring pinball-like scoring, Gilbert Mesquite running back Lukas Scott impersonated the ball, bouncing off defenders and creating havoc for Gilbert Highland.
