NEW YORK — Recent high-profile attacks on tourists in India, Brazil, Turkey and Mexico — including rapes — have raised questions about personal safety for overseas travel, especially for women. But frequent travelers and those who work in the industry say a few common-sense precautions can go a long way to ensuring personal safety.
Sadly, again, we see a crazed attacker going on a rampage against innocent victims. This time it was in a community college in Houston and the attacker had a knife instead of a gun. Should we anticipate that Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, and President Obama will now be calling for background checks when trying to purchase cutlery? Should knives of a certain length be outlawed? Will we see politicians surrounded by family members of the injured speaking out against Swiss Army?
“Seriously, some people need to get a life. The main news stories on national television have been about Te’o’s girlfriend saga and whether or not Beyonce lip synced at the inauguration. Please find something more news worthy to report about!”
We race into the 2012 homestretch following a record-breaking Thanksgiving weekend, where blockbuster franchises like “Twilight” and James Bond weren’t the only ones to do gangbuster business. Oscar-heavyweights “Lincoln” and “Life of Pi” both exceeded expectations in wide release, while independent fare “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Hitchcock” saw decent numbers in far fewer theaters.
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama won re-election Tuesday night despite a fierce challenge from Republican Mitt Romney, prevailing in the face of a weak economy and high unemployment that encumbered his first term and crimped the middle class dreams of millions.

A movie about the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis probably doesn't sound like it would be a laugh riot — or should be — but that's just one of the many ways in which "Argo" is a glorious, gripping surprise.

What's with Ann Romney addressing us as “You People?” On July 19, presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, while reinforcing her husband's refusal to make public several years of tax returns, told ABC News “we've given all YOU PEOPLE need to know” about the family's finances. She went on to further denigrate us people by stating that “You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he's been financially.” Duh ... That's why we are asking for full disclosure on his finances, Ann.

Once again, the nageling nabobs of negativism, or as they would like be referred to — the tea party — are once again screaming in the media about how evil the federal government is and how un-American it would be if all citizens were forced into purchasing a private health care plan under Obamacare. The coercion. The heavy handedness. The death panels. The costs.

“So sad to see our Arizona Sen. John McCain still trying to grab the brass ring. He is 75 years old now. Time to put the old warhorse out to pasture. Leave the fighting and the calling for war to younger men and women. No one wants to see this American patriot prisoner of war becoming the next Sen. Byrd, having to wipe the drool from his mouth when he is addressing the Senate. Time now to enjoy all those beautiful homes and ranches that he and his wife own. Time to go gracefully into the night.”
