A few years ago, some friends gave me one of those refrigerator magnets that reads: “Life is too short to drink bad wine.” I loved the sentiment at the time, and have now decided it will be my mantra for the new year.
And I thought I was creative in the kitchen. I just read through "101 Sangrias and Pitcher Drinks" by Kim Haasarud (Wiley Publishing) and was blown away by her use of exotic ingredients like ginger, hibiscus and sake, among others, in the classic summer drink.
Some folks go to church on Sundays, I go to brunch. I worship everything about the wonderful late-morning combination of breakfast and lunch: the egg dishes, the seafood, the freshness and spirit of it all.
