Finely chopped fresh fennel adds crunch and a pleasant licorice-like flavor to the traditional egg salad sandwich.
You may have been too busy to realize it, but April was Stress Awareness Month. Sponsored by the Health Resource Network, a non-profit health education group, Stress Awareness Month was designed to promote awareness about ways to reduce stress in our lives. And if you're a member of the so-called "Sandwich Generation," you may well have plenty of stress to deal with - especially financial stress. And that's why you may want to look at an opportunity to explore ways of "de-stressing" yourself.

Chompie’s (1160 E. University Drive, Tempe [480] 557-0700). Founded in 1979 by the Borenstein family, originally from Queens, N.Y., Chompie’s serves up a huge menu of “breakfast all day,” N.Y.-style pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and baked-from-scratch breads, cakes and pastries. Don’t miss the boiled-then-baked bagels in 35 varieties and the sliders, featured on an episode of “Man vs. Food.” Additional location in Chandler (3481 W. Frye Road [480] 398-3008). $$
The menu boards are up at Something Sweet Bakery as they start having patrons sample their new sandwiches. Come by from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 10 and try a sample, featuring Boar’s Head meats, fresh-baked bread and croissants, and fresh vegetables.

DENVER - Long before dawn breaks, Greg Brenneman is on the run, a habit that can be a bit disconcerting for his temporary houseguest. Quiznos’ new chief executive officer invited Steve Provost to stay with him during his move to Denver, an invite that extended to 8-mile runs.
SUB MAN: Ron DiSaverio, owner of three Denver-area Quiznos sandwich franchises, works recently at one of his shops. He says Quiznos is moving in the right direction as the company is working to reduce food costs by as much as 4 percent.
I’d given up finding a Monte Cristo sandwich until I was at Neighbors on the northwest corner of Guadalupe and Alma School roads. They’re open for breakfast and lunch. The waitresses are helpful and friendly.
Happiness is... a warm cheese sandwich.
Allow me to confess right at the start — this is not your grandfather's Reuben sandwich.
Most kids — and many adults who want to remember being kids — love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Problem is, this lunch box staple is high in fat and sugar. So it’s time for a remake of that beloved sandwich.
