SAN DIEGO — Luis Gonzalez started in left field at Petco Park again Wednesday and would not mind if it became permanent.

The 2011 San Diego Comic-Con kicked off with its teaser preview night on Wednesday and from all signs, it looks like it’s going to be another banner year for the con. Despite a reduced number of high-profile panels on the main stage of Hall H (No Avengers panel? Seriously, Marvel?) there will be plenty of interesting sights to see over the next few days. There was no shortage of things to gawk at on Wednesday as well. I’ve included photos of just a few of those many sights.

The weeklong camp will be held at the University of San Diego from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.The Suns have trained at McKale Center at  the University of Arizona for  three of the last four seasons (2005, 2007, 2008), with a trip to Italy in between.

Powered by Hillary Bach’s 10th shutout and Krista Donnenwirth’s two RBIs, the 10th-seeded Arizona State softball team opened the 2009 postseason with a 5-0 win over San Diego State in the second game of the Tempe Regional Friday night.

The No. 4 Arizona State University baseball team completed a two-game sweep of San Diego with a 7-6 victory on Wednesday in front of a crowd of 2,237 at Packard Stadium. The Sun Devils improve to 35-11 on the season with the win.
