Those crazy Regressives keep trying new avenues to convince us that “trickle down” economics actually “works” and their latest scam is the “Fair Tax,” a misnomer if there ever was one!
In his Sunday Letter to the Editor, Mr. Rod Livdahl rages against the “Fair Tax” with an emotional vengeance. His diatribe appears to more based on feelings that facts. If he had gone to the website he should have caught the following facts.
What else can you do but chuckle at some of the “letter writers” and their devotion to ridiculous ideas they believe will “save America’ from succumbing to the disease of “socialism?”
Oh, the “weeping and gnashing of teeth” going on in conservative circles and right-wing think tanks after their embarrassing loss of face during the recent installment of “right-wing conservatives Shutter the U.S. Government” Once Again!
A heaping dose of ‘Government Relations 101’
I am scratching my head over just what Rod Livdahl is trying to say in his recent comments. Almost 10 months after the election I still continue to be amused by Democrats trying to justify themselves. They do not have to; Obama won for a second time! Perhaps our move towards socialism is not far enough or fast enough for their liking.
“To the Venter who called Rod Livdahl a Liberal: Rod is not a Liberal but rather a progressive. And the opposite of a Progressive is a regressive, not the ‘C’ word. Get used to it.”
“Do you think the announcement that 70 percent of the CEOs in the country now ride in armored limousines has anything to do with the results of the survey that says 70 percent of employees in the United States feel that they are being robbed blind, with the super low wages and super high health insurance, by their employers?”
An interesting paradox, so to speak, created by typical Republican hypocrisy!
“Ordering the Federal Justice Department to help organize pro Trayvon Martin rallies, and having them search for another way to punish George Zimmerman when they could not prove him guilty, shows just how empty Obama’s (and the Democratic Party’s) promises of ‘justice’ to Hispanics (and to the American nation) have been. Obama is for himself first, last, and only.”
I saw the title “Right wing is destroying the economy” and I did not even need to look at the author. I knew it was my good left-wing friend Rod Livdahl. Mr. Livdahl and other Liberals, please consider the following: You cite the austerity programs in Europe as ruining their economy, ignoring the fact that liberal spending policies in these quasi-socialistic countries drove the debt up so high that they were forced to curtail spending. As Maggie Thatcher once said, “eventually Socialists run out of other peoples’ money.”
“Zimmerman found not guilty. Time for inner-city residents across America to start a smash-and-steal binge!”
How long are we going to let the far-right wing conservatives in Congress destroy the American economy with their selfishness and greed through untimely budget-cutting?
“There they go again!” Ronald Reagan’s words echoed in my mind as I read Rod Livdahl’s recent letter supporting a raise in the minimum wage.
What is wrong with America?
Regressive thinkers like Paul Ryan and Harvard economists Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff, who just had their invalid austerity facts exposed by three researchers from UMass, are running scared now. So scared, in fact, that they are talking CRAZY.
I am constantly amazed by how difficult it is for so many Americans to add two-plus-two and come up with four, and who continue to vote against their own economic self-interest. The facts are out there if they would only take a moment to consider the facts!
Finally some actual facts! That’s what I was hoping to find when I opened Rod Livdahl’s letter about the “tickle up effect”. Alas, it was not so. It was simply more “theory,” not supported by actual facts in an attempt to disparage President Reagan’s implementation of supply side economics. So I took one statistic, the unemployment rate, and did some research. These facts paint an interesting picture:
Perhaps Rod Livdahl (letter of 3/20) should review his Econ 101 textbook before he presents his next lesson on the subject. “Trickle Down” and “Trickle Up” are not economic terms. They are political terms, coined by Liberals to mock and distort serious economic discussion. There is no authentic “Trickle Down” school of thought that proposed the enrichment of the wealthy by government action in order to allow some of that wealth to somehow dribble down to the masses. “Trickle Up” appears to be an advanced term invented by Mr. Livdahl.
After seeing two writers disagree with a recent “Letter” I wrote the first week of March, I figured it was time to remind these forgetful conservatives of the simple principles of “Economics 101”
On March 6, Rod Livdahl wrote a full column with all the answers. Only thing is he quoted the wrong facts. He writes all about the presidents in office as the debt mounted. The big problem is the president can only veto bills, not write them.
Let’s Talk Tax Reform — reform that actually builds the American economy and creates new jobs.
In the March 6 edition, Mr. Rod Livdahl presented a lively and articulate apology for the tax/borrow/spend insanity running amok in our country. The presentation lacked only one component of importance—accuracy.
It is painfully obvious that conservatives and liberals think with completely different sides of their brains! Or more succinctly, one uses it’s brain to think, while the other prefers to let others do their thinking for them. They simply go with the flow because the conservative ‘siren song’ of lower taxes just sounds so pleasant and soothing to the ear!
