Tempe police are looking for a 32-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing a neighbor early Tuesday morning with a highpowered semiautomatic rifle during a drunken argument at a neighborhood barbecue.

The term “assault rifle” is a misleading term. It is being applied to rifles owned by law abiding civilians simply because they “look” similar to those used by the military.

Many other manufacturers, however, now sell similar versions of the rifle largely styled after the military's fully automatic M-16.
