Outlook: Defense made the plays for the Eagles in their opening-night win over Tucson Pusch Ridge, but they can’t rely on that happening every week.
Valley Christian had little problem with host Tucson Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Friday, winning the 2A non-region game 28-13. The Trojans (3-0) scored all of their points in the first half, getting two touchdowns each from Brian Langhoff and Shawn Smith. Langhoff scored on runs of 5- and 1-yard, while Smith's scoring runs were from 2- and 1-yard away.
Higley's offense steamrolled for 503 yards in a 55-13 non-region victory over Tucson Pusch Ridge.
One more practice. One more sleepless night. One final step into the great unknown. Today means all of those things for the nine East Valley schools that open their football season Friday.
