Did you catch The Rev. Jesse Jackson the other night on CNN demanding a Senate hearing into why regulators never cracked down on that gruesome abortion clinic in Philadelphia?
I wrote a Letter to the Editor last week and got a lot of comments about being racist and questioning a woman- only right to abort a male-conceived fetus at will.
“Isn’t it ironic that the very same hippies, anarchists and flower children of the 1970’s (and now their grown up daughters) are exactly what they accused the returning Vietnam War veterans of being: ‘baby killers’. There were 1,300,000 living, human fetuses who were killed in their mother’s womb in 2011. The Vietnam veterans were never proud of having to kill civilians during the war. The ‘baby killers’, on the other hand, are proud of it. They call themselves, ‘pro-choice’.”
This is my rebuttal to Mr. Raul Gomez (“Vote and make the correct choice,” AFN, Oct. 28).
“Read the paper and saw a new reason for the liberals to celebrate: Abortions in Arizona are up. Liberals: Pro choice, as long as the choice is abortion. Proud of that?”
DALLAS — Airlines give many reasons for refusing to let you board, but none stir as much debate as this: How you're dressed.
The much-applauded landing of the roving Mars Science Laboratory (a.k.a Curiosity) has gotten me started thinking about the sorry state of curiosity in modern society.

"I consider myself a conservative Republican, but I'm going to have a lot of problems supporting either Gov. Rick Perry or Rep. Michelle Bachmann as long as their main message is arguing evolution with kids, bashing gays, condemning anyone who is pro-choice (which I really consider to be pro-life) and saying the military ought to be supporting their candidacy. How about some governmental leadership?"

Don't think for one minute I don't face a dilemma bringing this up. In the longstanding tradition of the Lutheran Church, it is our practice to leave politics at the door in favor of building unity. This lighting rod issue transcends politics and faith, but both are at the center. But it's unity I have in mind that compels me to engage in a new conversation about abortion. There, I said it. Stay with me, please.

By a lopsided measure worldwide, there are not nearly enough women available to guarantee a wife to every eligible man who wishes to marry and enjoy the blessings of home and family and the civilizing influence of a spouse.
Len Munsil: "Safe, legal and rare.” That was the formulation former President Bill Clinton used to describe his view of the appropriate exercise of abortion rights in America. Clinton, a pro-choice Democrat, understood that this truth — implicit in the abortion choice is a moral decision with profound implications — is so profound that the exercise of this court-created right should be undertaken only rarely.
