Desert Ridge made a push to the state championship game when it moved Jordan Becerra (5) to quarterback after the regular starter, Parker Rasmussen, was injured. This season, the Jaguars were inconsistent with Rasmussen back under center and have moved Becerra back to QB.

Willingly or not, maybe Parker Rasmussen should be the poster child for having an appeals process about automatic suspensions after ejections. The Desert Ridge quarterback can’t play this week against Red Mountain after he was tossed from last week’s win against Skyline for allegedly bumping into a referee during a scrum following a couple personal foul penalties on the Jaguars.
Desert Ridge running back Joey Counts will be a game-time decision on Friday against Gilbert because of a shoulder injury that has kept him out since mid-June, coach Jeremy Hathcock said.
