“Ben Arredondo violated the public trust to enhance his personal wealth and image in excess of the legal and moral limits. There are few lower than him in society, maybe only child molesters. Now his buddies, Democrats, act like he is a persecuted choir boy.”
Gov. Jan Brewer said she won’t support any new laws to limit who can carry a gun, even in the wake of the killing of students and teachers in Connecticut.

State senators are being forced to decide between the right of Arizonans to bear arms and the right of restaurant owners to keep armed — and potentially intoxicated — patrons out.
WASHINGTON — On the eve of their panel's vote, top Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee announced Monday that they'll oppose Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, joining a growing list of conservatives ready to vote against the judge who's virtually certain to become the first Hispanic justice.
“Social Security and Medicare are NOT entitlements. I involuntarily paid via taxation into these programs for almost 50 years so that I may receive the benefits I do now. Entitlements are handouts such as food stamps, WIC, rent subsidies, and free medical care given to people simply because the have the good fortune of living in this country.”

Dear fellow American,
TUCSON — The second anniversary of the rampage that wounded Gabrielle Giffords included the customary solemn remembrances and chiming of bells to recall the victims of the tragedy. It also included a new role for the wounded former congresswoman as a national gun control advocate.
As a resident and businessman in Ahwatukee since 1991, I'm writing to express my complete disgust with state Sen. John McComish's performance in the Arizona Legislature, first as state representative and, now, as state senator. His recent sponsorship and votes in favor of "big government" intrusions on reproductive freedom (HB 2384, HB 2416 and HB 2443), his support of expanding the presence of guns into every aspect of Arizona society (SB 1467), his support of racial profiling and the fostering of anti-Hispanic racism (SB 1070) and, finally, his support and vote in favor of the Arizona "Birther" Bill, HB 2177, places him firmly in the right-wing tea party camp and well outside the mainstream of this district. McComish's performance, and those of his benighted colleagues, has made Arizona a national joke. Indeed, I find myself at a loss for words when friends and business colleagues from around the country ask me what is going on in this state.

I'm a strong 2nd Amendment advocate, absolutely. But, every right and every law must be driven by common sense. The idea of opening up college campuses to guns cannot be reconciled with wisdom. Just ask those who will be forced to manage the consequences.
