    On the weekend of May 14 and 15 the Arizona Elk Society will be hosting a volunteer work project northeast of Flagstaff. This year the groups will be cutting small jack pine trees that are encroaching on the grasslands beside scenic Highway 180. Restoring grasslands provides areas for elk and antelope as well as grassland birds and more to feed and migrate. Many of the grasslands are used as migration and travel corridors to get from winter to summer grounds for wildlife.
