Authorities say they received no prior reports of abuse from family members of a 14-year-old Mesa girl who was assaulted, strangled and dumped in a trash container.
Mesa police say the mother's boyfriend has been arrested in the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a dumpster last week.

It appeared recent history would repeat itself when Mesquite ran off to a 17-0 lead against Campo Verde after the end of the first 24 minutes in the quarterfinal matchup of Friday night. Unfortunately for Mesquite, Campo Verde didn’t stay down this time, and came close to pulling off the comeback and the upset before ultimately ceding to the home team, 26-20.

It was homecoming at Campo Verde Friday night and there was a bit of an upset. It was not on the field – it was at halftime, as quarterback Luke Pineda lost out on homecoming king to senior kicker Alex Wells.

Campo Verde continued its successful start to the 2013 season with a 31-8 win over Gilbert on Thursday night at Campo Verde. The Coyotes (4-0) led 17-0 at halftime and except for the third quarter controlled the game on both sides of the ball.
