More books are checked out of the Southeast Regional Library in Gilbert than any other library in Maricopa County Library District- and with that comes more library fines as well. The Gilbert library collects on average about $90,000 to $100,000 in fines annually, though that total varies.

Documentary film buffs can enjoy a summer series of movies at the Chandler Public Library, which will host a 10-film “Get Reel” series starting Tuesday. The series will showcase films by POV, the PBS documentary series. The series will include a wide spectrum of films exploring 21st Century global perspectives and local events such as Memorial Day, July 4th and the start of the school year. The award-winning POV is in its 25th season and includes more than 325 documentaries.
Children will love these summer events in Gilbert’s cool libraries.
Mesa public libraries will hold a fair for teens 12 to 18 to fill volunteer positions for the summer reading program. The volunteers will assist by working at the library desk, being computer aides, shelving books, working in the crafting program and other duties.
The owner of a social club for kids and teens will share her family’s story about autism on March 24 at the Mesa Library.
