Why are taxpayers supporting a left-wing/liberal PBS and NPR? The Corporation for Public Broadcasting came into being during the hey-day of the flower children (remember how the 1960’s Democrat Revolution had Malcom X, Elijah Mohammed, Che Guervera and Cesar Chavez as their poster boys?). The PBS TV stations and NPR radio stations were liberal and quasi-leftist from the get-go. It was kind of loopy and innocent back then.
As the New Year approaches and we all make our 2011 resolutions, I have a suggestion.
The America of 2004, it would seem, is an America much in need of tranquilizers.
Sadly, instead of imparting truthful information about the Colorado shooting, our TV and newspaper media has gone into full liberal attack mode. Right after the name of the accused shooter, James Holmes, was made public the blame game started. On ABC’s hugely popular Good Morning America program, reporter Brian Ross, told George Stephanopoulos that a James Holmes was a member of the Tea Party.
“What will Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman say about the shootings at Newtown, Conn.? Will we finally get serious about keeping assault weapons out of the hands of kooks? Or will we continue the string of assaults starting at Columbine, winding through Tucson, then back to Denver and now to Connecticut? I bet we continue acting like the kooks we spawn.”
The Natural Resources Defense Council is a left-wing environmental organization that constantly chides the Bush administration, calls for international environmental governance, promotes more regulations, sounds the alarms about "global warming" and the evils of the oil industry and generally takes positions at odds with those supported by President Bush and the GOP Congress — and, we suspect, by a good majority of the American people.
What has happened to our high schools? Where have the moral values that were instilled in the 1950s gone? When did teachers and coaches become “sexual predators?” Why is globalism and not Americanism being taught in our taxpayer-funded classrooms and gyms?
Former Chandler City Councilman Martin Sepulveda has joined the competitive race for the U.S. House of Representatives in the East Valley’s Congressional District 9. The Republican, two-term councilman said in a news release that he will promote a balanced budget amendment and cut spending.
A sad day for not only Arizonans but for all Americans. Another heroic U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed in the line of duty. Words of condolence to the family of officer Brian Terry seem so inadequate at this time. The agents of the U.S. Border Patrol perform the front-line defense of America’s borders. Theirs is a thankless job. They are reviled and demeaned by the left-wing liberals as racist bigots. Yet I, as a Mexican-American, have only been treated with courtesy and respect whenever I have crossed back to the United States.
The cost of living continues to rise, but government officials say Social Security checks (to more than 58 million Americans) in 2011 will not have a Cost of Living Adjustment.
With government spending of diminishing tax revenues coming under closer scrutiny, the decision by the Gilbert School District to spend public tax money on a program to indoctrinate young people into a liberal world view is outrageous.
BRICKS to a New York Times editorialist and Boston Globe columnist Derrick Z. Jackson, both of whom referred in print Friday to the "so-called war on terror."
Austin Hill: President Barack Obama is human. He is not a "messiah," he is not omniscient, and after a year in the White House, he has neither been, nor will be, that one, single individual who "fixes everything" that is wrong with America.
“I can’t believe that Dave Allison’s performance pay was approved. There’s no balanced budget and the 2 percent increase they just gave is being taken away districtwide. Doesn’t seem to affect him. How fair is that?”
Disapprove, if you like, of the Disney company’s decision to forbid a subsidiary to distribute the latest concoction of left-wing zealot Michael Moore. But don’t call it censorship, which is what the government does when it tells private parties that they cannot say something publicly.
“I was at the Chandler (office of the state Motor Vehicle Division) on Chandler Boulevard last week. After having bad experiences in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Arizona, I didn’t know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised! They were exceptionally helpful, courteous, organized, and professional. It was crowded, but I was in and out of there in under 15 minutes.”
“Could you guys who are for or against the evolution theory take it outside? I’m tired of reading about your opinions.”
What are Sandi Gluaser's credentials ("McCain breaks bond with voter," Oct. 18) besides being a resident of Gilbert? So am I, but I don't pretend to be an authority on every political subject, I do admit I have an evangelical Christian, conservative bias. Very few if any of her columns demonstrate any conservative roots. I've been a conservative for 60-some years and they go too deep to dig them up.
Along the political spectrum there are liberals and there are conservatives, but sometimes it seems they all belong to the same party: The Nanny Party.
Start looking for a nasty presidential election campaign. Obama has nothing to brag about so he is looking to tear down Romney and Obama is wide open to be ripped about because his leadership has been so weak.
WASHINGTON - President Bush named John Negroponte, the United States' top diplomat at the United Nations, as the U.S. ambassador to Iraq on Monday and asserted that Iraq "will be free and democratic and peaceful."
Star Parker: It's for good reason that our Democratic legislators wanted to hide under a rock while passing this terrible piece of legislation. It may help them with the far left wing of their party. But weakening and damaging our country is not something to be proud of. And that is exactly what this new hate crime law does.
“Yesterday I saw an interview on Fox ‘news’ with a protesting Syracuse grandmother who says she doesn’t want America to turn into a ‘welfare nanny state.’ What they forgot to mention was that dear Mrs. Wilder is also currently receiving Social Security and Medicare benefits, filed for bankruptcy last year to escape her creditors, and used the local, free dial-a-ride to get to her ‘tea party.’ Pretty typical ditto head, I’d say.”
Let’s be honest here. The newest Gilbert controversy seems just an attempt to win an election.
