Unfortunately for Jamaal Lewis and Dirk Koetter, there is no such thing in college football as a designated hitter.

Richard Lewis hates himself. Still. Through more than three decades as a stand-up comedian, he's made a living of self-loathing and venting his neuroses to adoring audiences. His recent marriage and a decade of sobriety haven't changed that a bit.
As hot as Larry Lewis and Arcadia were in its first two state tournament games, that’s how cold things became in the Division II boys basketball state tournament semifinal on Thursday.
Considering what Arcadia guard Larry Lewis had just finished doing to Tucson Salpointe Catholic in the Titans' 80-67 Division II boys basketball state tournament quarterfinals victory, he could have smiled.
It felt like a home game for No. 2 Arcadia in its 48-46 win over Phoenix Sierra Linda on Saturday night in the Division II, Section III championship game at Coronado High School.
NEW YORK — It's all 3s all the time for Jason Kapono.
NEW YORK — All-Stars Paul Pierce of Boston and Chauncey Billups of Denver headline the field for the 3-point contest.
Jordan Baker and Larry Lewis both played well in a matchup between two of the best guards in Arizona on Tuesday night.
With 15 seconds left and the game tied at 60-60, Arcadia set up for the game-winning shot Friday night.
Jordan Baker had a shooting night to forget on Friday.
SAN FRANCISCO -- In an ugly matchup between two unsightly teams, Anquan Boldin's stumbling, staggering run through the 49ers' inept tackling was a fitting way to decide it.
ATLANTA — Pants. On. The. Ground. With those four words, "General" Larry Platt has gone from "American Idol" reject to Internet sensation.
Ten impact players to watch as the boys basketball season tips off:
A grand jury has indicted a 51-year-old man on allegations he stole identities and committed financial crimes while he worked at the Pinal County Recorder's Office.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A changing of the guard — and tackles and running backs and receivers — saw 15 first-timers make The Associated Press 2008 NFL All-Pro team announced Friday.
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent of Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin, was in the Valley this week, but the visit didn’t include any talks about Boldin’s contract situation.
As promised, the contracts are getting done.
For generations, letters from servicemen serving overseas — especially during a time of war — have been treasured heirlooms in families, often tucked away in a box or a scrapbook.
Division I
The boys basketball season began on Monday, and with several East Valley teams playing in tournaments across in the state, fans will begin to notice the next crop of star players gracing the hardwood. The Tribune’s Player of the Year, Cameron Forte, returns to lead defending 4A Division I-champion McClintock, and Arizona State-signee Jahii Carson is thinking state title at Mesa. Here is an early look at ten East Valley players to watch this year:
TEMPE - The Arizona Cardinals and Josh McCown left Sun Devil Stadium a winner. McCown threw touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin and the Cardinals beat the depleted Philadelphia Eagles 27-21 on Saturday.
The Cardinals can clinch their second consecutive NFC West title by beating the 49ers in San Francisco. Although the 49ers would seem to have the emotional edge given that their playoff hopes hang by a thread, Arizona is bent on avenging its season-opening loss. Also, the Cardinals want to prove to a “Monday Night Football” audience that they can back up their impressive victory over the Vikings with another stellar effort.
The skinny: The Cardinals begin defense of their NFC championship with a home game against the 49ers. Arizona would seem to have the edge, playing at University of Phoenix Stadium. But San Francisco matches up well with Arizona; had the 49ers not botched an offensive possession at the goal line last year, they would have come away with a road win. It will be interesting to see if the 49ers’ physical training camp pays dividends. Ken Whisenhunt insists his team is physically prepared and scoffs at the notion that he ran a soft camp.
