LOS ANGELES - Roger M. King, the CBS and King World Productions executive who helped bring stars including Oprah Winfrey, Alex Trebek and "Dr. Phil" McGraw to television, died Saturday of a stroke, a CBS spokesman said. He was 63.

I was saddened to hear about world-renowned golf teacher Jim Flick. I remember meeting Jim in December 1990, at Desert Mountain Country Club, just after I took care of ASU junior Phil Mickelson. I tried to explain to Jim why I fit Phil with custom designed contacts rather than glasses for his first optical correction. I told him I believed better putters and chippers needed to see more periphery, needed true size magnification for efficient depth perception that contacts give you over glasses, and to play by feel instead of over thinking so players trusted what they saw (instinctual playing).
