The Dobson Band Parents Association is organizing an event with cars, food trucks and bikes to raise funds for the Dobson High School band on Dec. 14.

Winning in the playoffs is often about perseverance. So, too, is simply getting to this point.
Well, that was interesting.
After Mountain Pointe defeated Dobson, 57-3, on Friday night, Pride players shook their opponents’ hands, sang the fight song with the band and smiled at the fans’ signs reading “10-0.”

The Mountain Pointe football team has been described as athletic, fast, quick and plenty of other superlatives on the way to being considered Division I’s premier team and nationally ranked.
Football is — among so many things — a game of attrition, which explains why many schools struggle either suddenly or gradually. That’s happening everywhere around East Valley football programs these days, seemingly with more frequency than ever (at least it feels that way).
