TUCSON — Authorities say a Phoenix man has been charged with threatening to kill Arizona Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva.
Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Justin M. Haynes was indicted Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Tucson on one count of threatening to assault, kidnap or kill a federal employee or official.
Prosecutors say Haynes is accused of calling Grijalva's office in Tucson on April 23 and threatening to "come down there and blow the brains out" of Grijalva and his employees.
Haynes is scheduled to be arraigned June 24. Prosecutors say Haynes faces up to a 10-year federal prison sentence if he's convicted. It was unclear Friday whether Haynes has legal representation yet for his case.
TUCSON, Ariz. - Federal prosecutors added new charges Thursday including racketeering, making a false statement on a tax return and other counts to an indictment against Arizona Congressman Rick Renzi.
