    Just a month shy from picking season, the crop of navel organges managed by Verde Oro Farms has not yet turned. The U.S. Department of Agriculture hasn't tallied the production of orange and grapefruit in its totals for the state since the 2008-2009 growing season.

    Urban growth has left citrus farmers with few options in regards to keeping their businesses alive. Now, a citrus killing pest is said to be equally threatening to crops in Arizona. A lack of focus on crop inspection at the border could be the cause of the increase in pests. Amanda Munoz reports.

    Carl Wunsch and his church group spent Saturday morning in Sun City picking oranges and grapefruits at two homes. They were volunteering for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance “Super Citrus Saturday,” collecting citrus fruits from trees in neighborhoods to fill food boxes in Arizona and other states.
