If your son or daughter uses marijuana, where would you prefer they purchase it from? Drug dealers who also sell other drugs like cocaine and heroin, or medical marijuana cardholders?

Here’s a challenge for America’s drug crusaders: Show us a crime of any kind committed under the influence of cannabis from 1750 to 1920. I have searched the archives in vain seeking a homicide, assault, rape or any other violent act connected to marijuana while it was legal.

PHOENIX — A state appeals court hears arguments Thursday on whether to temporarily put on hold a judge's order upholding Arizona's medical marijuana program.
The number is 841,348; that’s 50.13 percent of the voters — a difference of 4,340 people. They said yes, they wanted medical marijuana. They followed the rules. The governor doesn’t, so, she doesn’t. Is that how government works now?
Last time I checked, both Attorney General Tom Horne and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery were employees of the state of Arizona, not the federal government.
Regarding Carolyn Short’s commentary on Medical Marijuana (May 23): The writer states that the vote on this issue was a scam to legalize pot and has since “been proved right.” She provides no evidence for this.
The number 420 is a slang term for marijuana, and the drug’s users rally on April 20 to celebrate the substance. But anti-marijuana activists are staging a counter-4/20 event in Mesa to offer a healthy alternative to youth. The Mesa Prevention Alliance is offering free food, music, raffle prizes and memberships to youth programs from 4:20 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 20, at two locations.

PORTLAND, Ore. — At the newly opened Cannabis Cafe, people sit around taking tokes from a "vaporizer" - a contraption with a big plastic bag that captures the potent vapors of heated marijuana. Glass jars hold donations of dried, milky-green weed, and the cafe serves up meals and snacks for the hungry.
LOS ANGELES -- Five years ago, the Los Angeles City Council thought it had reined in an explosion of pot businesses across this sprawling metropolis with a moratorium against new medical marijuana dispensaries.
It is both tedious and infuriating to read that current laws are inept at dealing with the sale of so called designer drugs from the smoke shops that engage in this trade. How could it be possible that they are allowed to peddle these drugs under the guise of “herbal remedies” but not for human consumption, yet clearly the contents are used in ways not permitted for consumption?
Without comment the Senate on Wednesday gave preliminary approval to legislation to ban the possession and use of medical marijuana on college and university campuses.

Unless Congress takes immediate action, funding for education could be slashed by $3 billion on March 1. This would be the largest cut to education in our nation’s history, and could result in millions of dollars of lost revenue for our local school district.
