Apache Junction High School Navy JROTC Cadet Derek Dorman has been awarded a full, four-year Naval ROTC scholarship to the University of New Mexico. The full-ride scholarship pays up to $180,000.00 for books, fees, tuition, and provides a monthly living stipend during Dorman's tenure at UNM.
Austin Kennedy, a National Junior ROTC cadet at Apache Junction High School, will receive the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement on Wednesday at the district office.

In all, the girls from Girl Scouts Cadet Troop 2292 made 131 pillows that they donated to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Cardon Children’s Medical Center at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa.

Three Apache Junction High School NJROTC cadets have each earned a $180,000 scholarship to attend the four-year college of their choosing. Seniors Sarah White, Presley Morrissey and Chance Carlson all learned in the last few months about their scholarships.

Spring break in Hawaii could have been a week of sun and surf for a group of Apache Junction High School students.

Alyson is the battalion commander of the Army Junior ROTC unit at Mesa’s Red Mountain High. Her awards were presented by the Military Order of the World Wars.

Westwood High School's Warrior cadets from Mesa won the most trophies at this fall's Desert Talon Drill Meet. The Westwood Air Force Junior ROTC cadets won the Grand Champion trophy at the first competition of the season. To earn the top title, Westwood won trophies in seven different categories.

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Dave Matthews Band will play for Army football next month - at two free shows. The U.S. Military Academy beat out Air Force, Navy and more than 100 other colleges that participated in the World's Loudest Pep Rally contest to win a visit from the rock star. Matthews will play for cadets Nov. 14 and 15.
