NEW YORK - The Bluetooth wireless standard used in cell phones and other small devices will take a leap in transmission speed, broadening its scope to enable high-definition video and files for digital music players like the iPod.

On Tuesday, June 19th, my son and I were crossing Lindsay Road on Broadway, heading west. We had the green light and when we reached half way, a squad car was approaching the intersection, heading southbound, with four more squad cars following behind, all with lights and sirens blaring. While most traffic did stop, for some reason, traffic heading east found no reason to stop, causing the squad cars to stop. Officers had their sirens on and beeping their horns, but to no avail. One officer had to make a quick right turn to avoid hitting one of the those cars that wouldn’t stop. Another officer had to swerve to avoid hitting another car and almost t-boned an eastbound car.
