Each year, the Whitehead family, which owns and operates Mesa's SWIMkids USA, hosts a Swim-kid-athon to raise funds for the Blake's Miracle Foundation - created in honor of young Blake Whitehead, who passed away in 2006 just shy of 2 years old after a bout with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
