The deadline to submit nominations for AAA’s Crossing Guard of the Year award is March 12. AAA invites students, parents, school administrators, faculty, staff and community members in Maricopa and Pima Counties to nominate candidates whom they believe deserve the Crossing Guard of the Year designation. As the national average for a gallon of gas has decreased, Arizona prices remain about the same, up .2 cents to $3.71 per gallon since last week.
After nine weeks on the decline, prices at the pump have reached a plateau across our state. However, this week, Arizona motorists are enjoying the lowest prices in the country. Statewide, motorists are paying an average of $3.391 per gallon, an increase of less than a penny from last week. Nationwide, fuel prices increased seven cents to $3.655 per gallon.

The automobile club said this week prices increased for the eigth straight week. In the East Valley, drivers are paying $2.88 for a gallon for regular unleaded, an increase or nearly 3 cents from the week before.
Statewide, motorists are currently paying $2.89 a gallon, an increase of nearly 2 cents from last week, AAA said. The national average remains relatively unchanged from last week at $2.86 per gallon.
“Although Arizona’s fuel average continues to edge upward, the momentum behind recent prices swings has slowed,” said Linda Gorman AAA Arizona public affairs director Linda Gorman. “While $3 per gallon remains a relative certainty here in the state, it is unlikely that prices will go much over that threshold, barring unforeseen circumstance.”
According to AAA, the Energy Information Administration recently released its Short-Term Energy and Summer Fuels Outlook, in which it forecasts retail fuel prices to exceed $3 per gallon during the summer driving season. The $3 mark has already hit in six states, AAA said.
In Arizona, Tucson drivers are paying the state’s lowest fuel price with an average of $2.79, while Flagstaff motorists are paying the state’s highest fuel price with an average of $2.99 per gallon.
