The Arizona State men's basketball team received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward Victor Rudd on Thursday.

Rudd played for Findlay Prep near Las Vegas, where he averaged 16.2 points and 8.1 rebounds as a senior. He was ranked by Rivals as the 114th best prospect from the 2009 class, and is listed as a three-star recruit by Scout.com.

According to ESPN.com, Memphis and Providence offered him a scholarship in January, while Marquette, UNLV, Arizona and USC were also interested.

Those schools, however, backed away when he was suspended for violating team rules at the end of his high school season, and, according, to the UNLV Web site, returned home to California to finish school.

Rudd will join guards Demetrius Walker and Trent Lockett, plus 6-foot-10 center Ruslan Pateev in ASU's Class of 2009. The Sun Devils have one scholarship still available.
