ASU gymnasts fall to Central Michigan

The Arizona State women’s gymnastics team fought to keep ahead Central Michigan Chippewas trough two events, but the Sun Devils stumbled on the beam and eventually fell to the Chippewas 195.575-194.825 Friday in their final home meet of the season.

Mary Atkinson led the Sun Devils on vault, nailing her landing to score a 9.875. Nickie Johnson tallied a career-high of 9.850.

On bars, Kaitlyn Bormann performed a crowd-pleasing routine, scoring a career-high of 9.900 for ASU.

The Sun Devils held the lead going into the third rotation, 97.950-97.625. The beam turned to out to be a struggle for the Sun Devils, who had several falls. Kahoku Palafox performed a beautiful series, hitting a career-high of 9.850.

After losing the lead going into the fourth rotation, the Sun Devils had solid floor performances. Madison Snowden and Johnson both posted career-high scores of 9.9, but it wasn't enough to catch the Chippewas.
