Something for nothing: The Arizona Cardinals will host a youth football coaches clinic at the team’s training facility in Tempe, 8701 S. Hardy Drive, from

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The clinic is free and open to youth coaches from around the state. Coaches will get a chance to hear from area high school coaches, former NFL players and members of the Cardinals staff. The clinic will cover topics such as developing young quarterbacks, training defensive backs, running efficient practices, preparing for the transition to high school and speed and conditioning lessons. Are you ready for some football?

Advance notice: The Queen Creek Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the annual NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition on Sept. 22. Registration begins Aug. 13. The competition for youth ages 8-15 will take place from 5-7 p.m. at Desert Mountain Park, 22201 S. Hawes Road. Winners from each local competition (one winner from each of the boys’ and girls’ four age groups) will move on to compete at an assigned sectional competition. The program is free. Parents and/or guardians of all participants must fill out an entry and release of liability form obtained from the Queen Creek Parks and Recreation office, 22350 S. Ellsworth Road.
