The Sun Devils travel to Pullman to face the Cougars on Saturday.
No. 14 Arizona State at Washington State
When: 3 p.m. Saturday
Where: Pullman, Wash.
TV/Radio: FSN Arizona/KTAR (620 AM)
Outlook: Washington State: It'll take a Pac-10 tournament championship to get Washington State into the NCAA tournament, but the Cougars are excellent at spoiling others' résumés. The Cougars won at UCLA for the second time in school history, then knocked off Arizona, 69-53, on Thursday night. Point guard Taylor Rochestie scored 33 points against the Bruins and added 17 against the Wildcats, and the Cougars maintained their top NCAA ranking on defense at 55 points per game.
Arizona State: If Washington beats Arizona today, the Huskies will claim the Pac-10 championship. But the Sun Devils can't worry about that after their 65-55 loss to Washington State last month at Wells Fargo Arena, during which freshman Klay Thompson hit eight 3-pointers and scored 28 points. After an exhausting overtime loss to Washington on Thursday night, the Sun Devils were 5-for-23 from outside and attempted 18 fewer free throws than the Huskies on Thursday night. Can they muster the energy against a stifling WSU defense?
