TUCSON - Sidelined for nearly a month by concussions, Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama has been medically cleared to return to the field. But coach Mike Stoops is not ready to name him the starter at Washington State Saturday.
‘‘Willie was cleared for contact; we will take it from there,’’ Stoops said Monday. ‘‘We will look at all of our options. We will name a starter toward the end of the week.’’
Tuitama, who has suffered two concussions this season, has been out of action since being hit near the head early in the second quarter against UCLA on Oct. 7. Tuitama practiced last week for the first time since then.
If Stoops decides not to play Tuitama on Saturday, the Wildcats might go with Kris Heavner. A third-stringer at the start of the season, Heavner started Arizona’s last game, a 17-10 loss to Oregon State on Oct. 21.
