The Arizona State women’s golf team is in first place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship in Franklin, Tenn. ASU tied the single-round team record, set by Georgia last year, after shooting an 8-under 280.
Junior Azahara Munoz led ASU by shooting a 5-under 67 to sit in third place among individuals. Sophomore Anna Nordqvist shot a 4-under 68 and is in a tie for fourth. UCLA’s Tiffany Joh is in first place after carding a 7-under 65.
• Danielle Fernandes had 18 kills and three blocks as Arizona State beat Tulane 3-1 Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Sun Devils won by scores of 30-25, 26-30, 30-27 and 30-22 and improved to 7-5. Tulane fell to 9-3.
• Sophomore Carly Kallas scored two goals as Arizona State beat SMU 4-1 Friday in Dallas. ASU improved its record to 3-2-0.
