Hillary Bach collected her 11th win of the season with a six-hitter in Arizona State’s 13-0, five-inning win over South Dakota State on Friday in Tempe.
The Sun Devils (19-4) put up 17 hits with 19 different ASU hitters getting at-bats.
ASU nearly batted around the order twice in the first inning, amassing 13 hits and 12 runs with RBI hits from Krista Donnenwirth, Katie Crabb, Jessica Mapes and Kaitlin Cochran. Cochran also collected her 50th career double in the inning, which ties her with ASU’s all-time career leader, Kara Brun.
• Arizona State’s women’s tennis team defeated Washington 5-2 in Tempe.
The Devils came out strong in doubles play, as sisters Laila and Nadia Abdala beat Lina Xu and Aleksandra Malovic 8-3.
ASU’s Sianna Simmons and Ashlee Brown also beat Aleksandra Krsljanin and Samantha Smith, while in the No. 1 spot, ASU’s 10th-ranked duo of Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna wrapped up the ASU point with their victory.
In singles play, ASU got victories from Laila Abdala, Nadia Abdala, Kelcy McKenna and Michelle Brycki.
• The Arizona State women’s gymnastics team dropped a road match to No. 2 Utah, falling 197.350-194.350 to the longtime rival.
Beaté Jones tied for third in the all-around with a 39.2. Nicole Harris scored a 38.6. The Sun Devils had a rough start on bars, but after falls from their top two, Jones and freshman Kahoku Palafox led the way for the Devils, earning scores of 9.8 each.
