Josh Hawkins hit the game-winning shot with 1.8 seconds left as the visiting Chandler-Gilbert Community College (14-14, 10-11) men beat Yavapai College 71-70 in a Arizona Community College Athletic Conference game Tuesday.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Ladi Makinde and Dustin Fish each had 14 points for Scottsdale Community College in a 91-62 victory over Central Arizona.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Jamie Nesbit scored 28 points, had six assists and three steals as host Mesa Community College (17-12, 14-6) beat Pima College 74-65 in overtime of an ACCAC game.

Scottsdale Community College was led by Nafeesah Jones' 17 points and 9 rebounds in a 74-40 loss to Central Arizona. Iasha Mohammed had a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Vaqueras.

Sara Hays scored a team-high 15 points and had 10 rebounds in a Chandler-Gilbert loss to host Yavapai, 74-68.

SOFTBALL

Jackie Beener got the win in each game of a doubleheader, striking out a combined 18 batters on the day as Scottsdale Community College defeated visiting Gateway Community College, 19-2 and 6-1.

GOLF

The Arizona State men's golf team finished with an 870 to place sixth at the 2006 Puerto Rico Classic. Georgia took first place at 21-under 843. Georgia's Chris Kirk shot a 67 for a total of 205 to place first. Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares finished fifth.
