The Arizona State track and field team opened competition Thursday at the 51st Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

The only Sun Devil participating in the day's events was Kauren Tarver, a true freshman who ran her first collegiate 3,000-meter steeplechase and placed 11th overall in 10:45.94. Tarver's time qualified her for the NCAA West Region Championships in May.

The event continues Friday and Saturday.

The Arizona Cardinals will host the fifth annual Arizona Cardinals Kicking, Punting and Snapping Camp on May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the team's Tempe training facility, 8701 S. Hardy Dr.

Hosted by former NFL and Arizona State kicker Luis Zendejas, the free camp will feature current and former NFL kickers, punters and long snappers. The event is open to all high school kickers, punters and long snappers.

All entries must be received by May 10.
