The vast majority of football fans will find themselves standing on the outside looking in on Super Bowl Sunday, but the NFL Experience will allow fans a chance be a part of Super Bowl XLII in Glendale.

The NFL Experience is pro football’s week-long interactive theme park and has been a part of Super Bowl Sunday for 17 years. This year the event will cover 850,000 square feet of space on the east side of University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. It will feature more than 50 interactive booths and games for children and adults.

Organizers are expecting more than 150,000 people to attend the NFL Experience.

The Experience is essentially a small town on stadium grounds. The crews moved in on Jan. 7 and will be building the tents and stages for the next two weeks.

The event does charge an admission fee, but that money is returned to the community.

“All proceeds from the event will go toward the NFL Youth Education Town, built near South Mountain Preserve,” said Experience spokesman Karl Gentles. “That town was built the last time the Super Bowl was in Arizona.”

The Super Bowl was last in Arizona at Tempe’s Sun Devil Stadium in 1996, playing host to Super Bowl XXX. There are now 12 NFL YET faculties in the country.

It opens on Jan. 26 and continues through Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 27; closed Jan. 28, 29 and 30; from 3 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 31; 3 to 10 p.m. on Feb. 1; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 2. On Sunday, Feb. 3, the event is only open to those attending the Super Bowl.

Tickets for the Experience are $17.50 for adults and $12.50 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased by calling (866) TIX-4NFL or online at www.superbowl.com.

Parking will be available to the north of the stadium at Westgate City Center and will cost $10 for regular passenger vehicles.
