Anthony Rose, a linebacker from Tempe Marcos de Niza High School, has verbally committed to play football at Arizona State, according to DevilsDigest.com.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Rose had 154 tackles and three sacks for the Padres last season, earning honors as Class 5A-II Pima Region defensive player of the year.

Rose could play safety in college. He is ASU’s third known verbal commitment in the 2009 recruiting class. Safety Matt Tucker of Aurora, Colo., pledged in March, and quarterback Brock Osweiler of Kalispell, Mont., committed in April.
