Velocity Sports Performance will offer two, four-day speed development seminars from Dec. 26-29 and Jan. 2-5 for youths in grades 4-12 at the facility located at 9171 E. Bell Road in Scottsdale.

Each class will last two hours and a speed evaluation will be performed on each participant. Space is limited to 12 per group.

Classes are designed to help participants see increases in speed, power and agility. Class hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $189 and athletes registered with Velocity receive a 10% discount. Register at www.azvsp.com or call (480) 503-8212.

• Toro Baseball Camp is Dec. 21-23 at Mesa Mountain View High School as follows: Grades 4-6 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Grades 7-9 from noon to 3 p.m. Cost is $55 if received by Friday, $65 after. Call Mike Thiel at (480) 472-7034.

• Former Diamondbacks minor league hitting coach Tony Dello is offering winter camps throughout the Valley as follows: Jan. 5-6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 10-14 years. Cost is $100 per player; Feb. 3-4, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 10-14 and noon to 2 p.m. for high school ages. Cost is $150 per player; Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 10-14. • Chandler Hamilton High will host a camp Jan. 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Jan. 10 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for youth in grades 5-8. Cost is $75 if registered by Jan. 5, $85 thereafter.

• Kiwanis Park Batting Range in Tempe will be the site of the “Game Day” Coaches Clinic, for coaches at all levels on Jan. 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jeff Carter, manager for the Kansas City Royals’ Class “A” affiliate will be instructing the clinic. • Garden of Gears is looking to fill the remaining roster spots for the Winter-Spring season on its 14U team. The team operates year-round, and is managed by professional players and/or coaches, college coaches or high school coaches. Practices are at Mesa Community College. HIKING

• The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy offers weekend hikes that are free to the public. All the hikes begin at 8:30 a.m. For detailed directions to the assembly points,visit www.mcdowellsonoran.org. Saturday, hikers will see evidence of early habitation in a 3-mile hike along the Verde River. Allow about 3 hours. This hike requires a reservation. On Sunday it’s the Two Mountain Loop, a rugged, 8-mile trek around Cone Mountain and Brown’s Peak, returning through Brown’s Ranch Allow about four hours.

BASKETBALL

MULTISPORTS

• Kidsports X-factor Athlete Training will conduct winter break mini-camps as follows: Dec. 26-29, sports performance training to enhance agility, strength, balance and stability. Speed training camp is Jan. 2-5 and emphasizes biomechanics, acceleration, and power. Camps for ages 9- 11 runs from 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at CAP Basin Park in Scottsdale; ages 12-13 is 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. also at CAP Basin Park and for ages 11 to 13 is 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Golden Eagle Park in Fountain Hills. WRESTLING

• Chandler Parks and Recreation will host a camp for youths ages 5-14 Dec. 26 through Dec. 29 at the Chandler Basha High wrestling room. Camp is from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. for ages 5-7, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for ages 8-10 and 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for ages 11-14. The fee is $32. Camps will be taught by Basha varsity wrestling coach Mike Garcia.
