Simon leads ASU women over Tulane in Preseason WNIT

Dymond Simon scored 15 points and Briann January added 14 to help the No. 17 Arizona State women’s basketball team cruise to an 86-53 victory over Tulane in the second round of the Preseason WNIT on Sunday in Tempe.

Kate Engelbrecht had a career-high 13 points and four steals for the Sun Devils (2-0), who overcame 21 turnovers by shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and hammering Tulane on the boards 41-27.

Indira Kaljo scored 13 points for the Green Wave (1-1).

Arizona State used its defense to bolt to a 45-25 halftime lead.

Becca Tobin pulled in 10 rebounds for the Sun Devils.

ASU advanced to a third-round matchup against the winner of Wednesday night’s game between Middle Tennessee State and No. 4 Oklahoma.
