Chandler moves closer to Babe Ruth finals

APPLETON, Wis. - The Chandler Babe Ruth 14-and-under team moved closer to a spot in the Babe Ruth League World Series finals Friday. Play was suspended due to rain in the top of the fourth inning with Chandler leading Fort Smith, Ark., 18-1. The game will resume at 8 a.m. Saturday, and the winner will advance to the championship game.

Their opponent will be the winner of the Youngstown, Ohio vs. Appleton, Wis., game that will follow the first game.

The championship game has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.

Chandler scored 13 runs on 12 hits before Tyler Erwin threw his first pitch of the night. Erwin threw  just 35 pitches in three innings and went 2-for-2 at the plate. Kyle Pechloff and Edgar Galiz added three hits and three RBIs each for Chandler. The team had 19 hits through the first half of the game.
