Cardinals rookie cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie grew up in Bradenton, Fla., about 20 minutes north of Tampa, site of the Super Bowl. Too-on-one asked DRC to be our tour guide for Super Bowl week.
Q: You’re the unofficial host next week. What places have you recommended your teammates go?
A: I recommend they go to JJ’s barbecue, man. Great food. They got ribs, beans, cole slaw, everything from the biscuits to the drinks are great. If they want a good time they have to go to Ybor City. It’s the Cuban part of Tampa. There’s a bunch of bars, places to hang out and relax.
Q: What about the beaches?
A: Oh, yeah, those are great places to go. You got St. Pete’s Beach, Coquina Beach. Don’t get in the water, though. There’s sharks and stingrays out there.
Q: What should we know about Tampa? What kind of city is it?
A: Tampa is a party, nightlife city.
Q: How many teammates have been asking you about Tampa?
A: Everybody. A lot of guys are asking me if I’ve got somewhere for them to go when we get down there.
