Each week, InFocus captures a slice of life in the East Valley through the lens of Tribune photographers. The events and activities will be entertaining and something we can all relate to — or enjoy.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but no matter what they’re named, sometimes dogs just reek. Enter a new breed of business: The self-serve dog wash — a “houndromat,” if you will — where pet owners bathe and groom their canine companions in a shop that provides everything from back-friendly raised washbasins to “good boy!” biscuits.

Tribune photographer Toru Kawana snapped away as customers at Dippidy Do Dog (2040 S. Alma School Road, Chandler) worked on their pets, who invariably emerge smelling fresh as a rose. For at least a day or two.
