More than 150 passengers on board an Allegiant Air flight were forced to sweat it out for two and a half hours Wednesday after a maintenance issue left the plane without air conditioning.

Despite being at the gate, the passengers were forced to stay in their seats as their flight was delayed out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

With the plane reaching temperatures around 100 degrees, like sitting in a hot car, the passengers aboard had a high risk of getting heat stroke.

Just last month, passengers on a flight from Las Vegas to Phoenix experienced a similar dilemma.

Allegiant Air said the summer heat can increase mechanical issues.
