Cats are known for their often cool, self-absorbed nature - but not Ava. While this 1-year-old tabby loves for you to pet her, rub her tummy, and brush her soft fur, she'll follow up such attention by sniffing and rubbing your head and then running her paws through your hair.
Ava is a little shy at first around strangers, but it doesn't take long for her to rub up against you in hopes of getting some ear rubs, chin scratches or head massages. At one year, she's still very much a kitten who loves to play with toys, from wand toys and fishing poles to the little red light that dances around from the laser pointer. Ava loves it when you toss up her toy mouse so she can catch it or bat it away like a baseball. But the folks at AZ RESCUE describe her cutest trick as when she works up some traction by running in place like a cartoon cat for a few seconds before chasing a toy mouse.
Ava would be fine as an only pet, or after an introductory period, with other cats. For more information on Ava other adoptable pets, call Reducing Animal Euthanasia at Shelters through Commitment and Underlying Education at (480) 598-9410 or visit www.azrescue.org. The cost of adoption is $125 for cats and $150 for dogs, which includes spaying and neutering and some inoculations.
