It's quite possible that only Garfield could challenge Fritz for the title of "Most Mellow Cat." This 7-year-old orange and white tabby approaches as soon as he sees you, rubbing up against you in hope of getting some pets. Oblige him and he'll oblige you with a purr so loud you can hear it from across the room. Fritz loves head rubs, chin scratches, and belly rubs. Get out a brush and he'll roll on his back and stretch to ensure you have full grooming access. In fact, Fritz loves the attention so much that he'll gently head-butt anyone who stops petting or brushing him.
His kitten years may be behind him, but Fritz still dabbles in playtime with fishing pole toys - on one condition: The fishing pole must be dragged across the floor for him to pounce on it. Some dignity please. He's an adult now. No kittenish leaps into the air for him. And, Fritz prefers that his food be served on a platter instead of a bowl. The folks at AZ RESCUE say you can almost hear Fritz snicker at the other cats as he enjoys his platter of tasty morsels.
For more information on Fritz or other deserving animals, call Reducing Animal Euthanasia at Shelters through Commitment and Underlying Education at (480) 598-9410 or visit www.azrescue.org. The cost of adoption is $125 for cats and $150 for dogs, which includes spaying and neutering and some inoculations.
